積極的な写しと観ることについて

（かつての）多くの魅惑的なフルーツシールは、凸版印刷やシルクスクリーン印刷で刷られていました。ぼくらfruit labels travelerのライフワーク〈フルールシール・カレンダーつくり〉において、十年目作からその背景の理解、再発見のために、シルクスクリーンに近い「孔版印刷」というプリント技法を活用しています。

色ごとに造形を紐解き分解をし、想像上の版をとり、一色一色ごとに色を重ね刷り上げています。そのため、作為を超えた版ずれから起こるインクの掛け合わせや白抜け、「孔版印刷」の特徴である色ムラやカスレが、飾らない絶対非演出のなかで時として生き生きと産まれます。

読み人知らずなアノニマス・デザインといえるフルーツシールのその造形のアウトラインをなぞることを通して、見知らぬ作者の「手と眼の痕跡」を、ぼくらの手と眼で丁寧に追いかけました。当時の技術や「色」の文脈への理解を下敷きに、こうやってぼくらが愛した旧き良きチャーミングなフルーツシールの面影がここに鮮やかに蘇りました。

この15年、ぼくらは世界中を軽やかに流通するこの愛くるしい〈小さきもの〉への大きな敬意の表明と、その足元を明るく照らすパブリシティを意趣に、〈fruit labels traveler フルーツシール・トラヴェラー〉として「架空の旅」をテーマにカレンダーつくりを続けてきました。
スペインは「果実の楽園」サン・セバスティアンの旧市街をそぞろ歩いた10年目作『スペインの色彩 Colores de ESPAÑA』（2015）を皮切りに、魅惑の大陸「南米」に眼を向けた『Gateway to South America』（2016）、世界を旅する旧友 イギリス人 ジョージの旅先のキッチンテーブルからインスピレーションを得た『George Morrison’s Trip Around the World』（2017）、イタリア人 アレッサンドロとの『Alessandro Del Moretti’s Trip Around The World』（2018）、アルゼンチン ブエノスアイレスからロサリオの旅中で出逢ったフェルナンドとの『Bienvenidos a Argentina』（2019）、それらは、ぼくらにとって憧憬の念や深い共鳴、シンパシーを持って手本とされた古今東西の「やきもの」の「写し」のような、あるいは和歌「本歌取り」に似た、対象への最大のオマージュを携えた積極的な写しの態度のある種の到達点、完成形といえるのかもしれません。

敬愛する先人の言葉があります。
"美とは、それを観た者の発見である。創作である"

ぼくらの眼の純度を頼りとしたこの発見と創作を、ぜひ手に取り、眼を凝らしつぶさに観てもらえるとうれしいです。

Thresholds are an–often overlooked–anthropological constant found in every era and every culture. From the spatial understanding of Greek antiquity to the establishment of the private sphere in the 18th century and the transparency of modern architecture, the threshold has always been a central architectural element. Like a visual symbol of a boundary or a transition, thresholds divide spaces, but are also a connecting element, opening up ways through and across, which have a subtle influence on one's own perception of space.
It is only in recent decades that thresholds have lost significance as part of our everyday experience with architecture. What remains is a growing emptiness between people and the spaces in which they live.
Sensual City Studio not only provides an inspiring overview of this important architectural stylistic feature from all eras and cultures, but also shows in particular: thresholds can and must be rethought and rebuilt. In this respect, this book is a plea for the renaissance of the threshold and therefore also a manifesto for a human architecture.

Schwellen sind eine – oft übersehene – anthropologische Konstante, die sich in jeder Epoche und in jeder Kultur finden. Vom Raumverständnis der griechischen Antike über die Etablierung von Privatheit im 18. Jahrhundert bis hin zur Transparenz der modernen Architektur war die Schwelle immer zentrales architektonisches Element. Gleich einem visuellen Symbol einer Grenze oder eines Übergangs trennen Schwellen Räume, sind aber zugleich auch deren Verbindung, eröffnen dabei Durch- und Übergänge, die subtil Einfluss auf die eigene Wahrnehmung des Raumes nehmen.
Erst in den letzten Jahrzehnten sind Schwellen als Teil unserer alltäglichen Erfahrung mit Architektur zunehmend bedeutungsloser geworden. Was bleibt, ist eine wachsende Leere zwischen Menschen und den Räumen, in denen sie leben.
Sensual City Studio geben nicht nur einen inspirierenden Überblick dieses bedeutenden architektonischen Stilmittels aus allen Epochen und Kulturen, sondern zeigen vor allem: Schwellen können und müssen neu gedacht und konstruiert werden. Und so ist dieses Buch ein Plädoyer für die Renaissance der Schwelle und damit auch ein Manifest für eine humane Architektur!

好きなものを眺めては、ひとりでちょっとにんまりしてしまう。
そんな「わたしだけの好きなもの」が、誰にでも、ひとつはあるのではないでしょうか。

「On the Desk」と題したこの展示では、10人の方々が、机の上でそれぞれの好きな世界を展開します。

誰かの、好きなものへの目線が、新しい出会いをくれるかもしれません。展示に関連したお土産＆書籍コーナーもありますよ。
